Proprietário - Property Owner | Algarve Rentals é uma empresa excelente e extremamente séria, com quem trabalhamos desde Junho de 2007, e que recomendo tanto aos inquilinos como aos proprietários. Excelente!

Marek and Isabel offer a great service. Friendly & helpful, reliable & trustworthy ... highly recommended!

We searched long and hard on the internet for several months (from abroad) in order to try to find a suitable long term rental in the Lagos area, but we either ended up talking to 'dodgy' landlords, or getting absolutely no response from others.

We also found that housing agencies down here don't generally advertise long term rentals, especially online.

Eventually, after reading positive posts about them on several "Ex-Pat" forums, we tried Algarve Rentals.
They had the right property at the right price for us, and from there on in, they have been just great, making the whole experience of moving to Portugal very smooth and even more enjoyable.

Their level service extends way beyond "the norm", helping ease your transition with advice on all aspects of life here, from Fiscal numbers and internet service providers right down to menial topics like supermarkets offers the best cheese selection ;-)

There may be other agencies out there, but even if you do manage to find them, you'll find the service from Algarve Rentals is hard to beat!

We sold our house in England to move to Portugal but could not find a long term rental. Then we stumbled across Algarve Rentals on the website and immediately gave them a call. We spoke to Marek who said he would look for us as he hadn't any available at that moment. In 2 weeks we got a call off his partner Isabel who said they could rent us one for 3 weeks until the long term property came available. All the necessary arrangements were done from England and everything went through smoothly. When we arrived (including Lucky our dog) Marek and Isabel were at the proerty to meet us and welcome us to our new home. At first we stayed in Portales but after 3 days Marek and Isabel managed to move us to our permanent accommodation. All the contracts were made ready and ourselves and the landlady of the condiminium (Natalia) went to Marek's office to sign.

Marek and Isabel gave us all the information we needed to register in Portugal and told us where to go and gave us excellent directions. They gave us contacts for a hire car company and even told us the best and cheapest Sim card to buy for the phone and how to top it up.

We have now been here for 4 months and have really settled in, thanks to Marek and Isabel. Also our landlady Natalia and her husband have been really good with us and we have all got on very well, you couldn't meet nicer people.

All in all, we would definately recommend Algarve Rentals whether you want just a holiday or to come and live here permanently.

When I decided to leave the Netherlands and go live in Portugal, the first thing that came to mind: "Where am I going to live?". Secondly: "Can I get broadband internet?"
Trying to get these questions answered by searching the internet proved to be, at that time, 2004, impossible. So I booked a flight and a hotel to stay for a week in Lagos in January 2005. Let's see what we can do 'on site'. After speaking to several real estate brokers, residents and of course people in various bars, I almost decided that it was virtually impossible to get a decent appartment for a reasonable price.

But then I met Marek Foth, the owner of Algarve Rentals. He had a range of appartments to offer. Since I was not 100 percent shure that I would stay in Portugal I opted for a small and cheap appartment. We looked at the appartments he had to offer, and we decided that 3 of them could be suitable. But he already predicted which one I was going to take. The next day he showed me the three appartments, and his prediction was spot on. I wanted that appartment. A small, two story appartment with one bedroom. A pristine, new, small building located in the old town of Lagos, wedged between the authentic little houses. So I rented it, starting March 1. But I did not know when I would be able to move there, because there would be a lot of things to take care of in the Netherlands.

To rent an appartment, you will have to pay the first month and one month extra for security. So I gave this guy, that I just met two days ago, about 1.000 euros. Ofcourse he gave me a contract and a receipt. He spent about two hours to explain all the terms of the contract to me, because it was all in Portugese. So was the receipt. For all I knew I had sold my soul to the devil and gave him some money to spend.

But the funny thing was, I trusted him from the moment I met him.

Okay, I went back to the Netherlands to take care of all the things I had to take care of. And I decided that I wanted to depart on a late Friday evening in March. This meant that I would arrive on a Sunday. I mailed Marek about this and he mailed back that arriving on Sunday wasn't a problem. He told me to just call him on his mobile, the moment I arrived, and he would come running with the keys. I thought: "Yeah right".

I arrive in Lagos on a Sunday at about 16.30. I call Marek on his mobile and tell him so. His answer: 'I'm so glad you're here. Now I have a good excuse to stop working in the garden, and my children are driving me crazy anyway. I will meet you in cafe XXX, in 20 minutes.' Well that cafe was closed, so I settled in a nearby cafe, thinking he will find me..... He did. We had a beer, he gave me the keys, and he said 'Now let me show you the way...'. I said: 'That's not neccessary, I know where it is.' He said 'Yes walking, but not by car.'

He was right. He showed me how to get there by car, showed me some things about the gas supply, and offered to help me with unloading the car (but I don't think he was really serious).

The week after he helped me getting a fiscal number, phone-line, adsl, etc.

So I settled in to this really beautifull appartment, everything was new. As I mentioned, this was March 2005. And the building was erected in 2003, a very dry year. Also 2004 was very dry, virtually no rain. So when we had a really good amount of rain in October 2005 the roof/terras began to leak (a little). I called Marek, explained the situation. Two hours later he arrived with the architect and the guy who built the house. They talked about it for 20 minutes and decided that a small part of the roofterrace had to be re-done. They did that the very next day!!! So I was safe again.

After the work was done Marek offered to have a cleaning lady come over, I told him not to bother because the guys that fixed the roof had already cleaned up everything.

However a few weeks later a big storm came this way. Hurricane Wilbert. That showed that the roof wasn't as watertight as it should be, so the roof was recovered totally. Again an offer for a cleaning lady from Marek, and again not neccessary.

Because of all the work that was coming my way I had to move to a bigger appartment. Marek arranged it. This was an older appartment, with a very nice sea view, but with older equipment. The washing machine broke, the TV broke. No problem. With the help of Marek they were replaced within a few days.

So, in conclusion, Algarve Rentals, Marek and his employees, they are all very reliable. Always trying to help, and never trying to cut corners.

I recommend them,

Willem van der List
